Hi board game geeks! My name’s Doddy and I’m here to help you ‘kickstart’ your game collection by navigating the choppy waters of crowdfunding campaigns! I’ll be looking at which deserve your gold and which you should avoid like an orc encampment! On today’s edition we’ll be looking at Runaljod by Tempo games.
The monsters have become more frequent, attacks more violent, danger lurks around every corner. The time has come for heroes to rise and stand true against the evil that plagues the land.
Select a hero and take them into battle across the land and lay waste to the creatures ruining the land. Pick one of the four characters and unleash your might!! Each character has their own set of skills and runestones to use, and each with their own passive skills and weapon proficiencies.
During the players turn you will roll stones onto your player board and assign them to your actions such as movement, attack and stones for extra perks during your turn. An edged stone allows you to claim the power of the gods which gives you more options and actions to take on your turn.
These stones get allocated so you can move and attack as you will encounter a fair few creatures along the way. On a kill you will gain a glory point which when saved you will earn currency to add skills and equipment to your retinue.
Then throw in the rule that each player takes an action and then another can take theirs, which makes for very versatile turns. Either split up your turn or take all your actions. Don’t miss, or squander your actions you’ll need them all.
Each creature is unique and packs a punch. They have their own action deck and that will tell the players in what order they attack, who they will target and which hero will take the punishment first. This adds a whole new approach to combat with you not knowing who will be picked on and who will be beaten down. So pick your targets well as there will not be any punches pulled.
So gather your weapons, get suited and booted in your armour and take out these abominations!! The turns are very quick and fast paced, and combat will keep you on your feet.
Pledge €89 (£77 approximately) plus p&p to get involved. Campaign ends on the 11th November.
