Susperia – Popcorn and Powertools Review

“I am she…”

Suspiria (2018) is something else. It really is.

Hauntingly beautiful, grotesquely brutal and unflinchingly engrossing.

Let’s just get this out of the way, Argento’s Suspiria is a completely different movie and while the remake borrows a lot from the plot, it’s a VERY different experience.

From it’s muted colour palette to the lack of the campy humour of the original, the 2018 take carves it own spellbinding path.

Both Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton are incredible, delivering nuanced and powerful performances, Swinton actually doing so in THREE roles.

The Thom Yorke soundtrack is mystifying and creates such an ethereal atmosphere, adding another level to an already deep experience.

Yes, it’s long and yes, it can be a little pretentious but honestly, it’s something else.

In an age of Blumhouse jump scare horror, Suspiria is a refreshing and beautiful take on the genre.

I can’t say how much I love this film enough.

Watch it.
